Pajaro Valley Climate Corps Workforce Development Training (Watsonville Wetlands Watch)

Workforce Development

The Pajaro Valley (PV) Climate Corps delivers a paid, pathway-aligned job training and hands-on work experience program for young adults and community members interested in developing new skills in climate adaptation career pathways, with a focus on residents from disadvantaged and flood-vulnerable communities within the communities of Watsonville and Pajaro.

The PV Climate Corps trains 60 participants over the 5-year grant period in climate adaptation and resilience work by offering 10 introductory and 5 advanced-level cohorts. Trainees work under Watsonville Wetlands Watch staff on active regional projects that mitigate fluvial flooding, sea level rise, and storm surge in the Pajaro Valley and greater Monterey Bay area. The program supplements field training with professional development workshops, job and internship placement support, and structured engagement with regional climate employers to build a diverse, employment-ready climate workforce.
