Celebrating 1-Year of Impact:
Climate Resilient Monterey Bay!

MBCAAN's 3rd Meeting
September 2025
The Monterey Bay Climate Adaptation Action Network is a new regional effort focused on building climate resilience across the bay. Led by the California Marine Sanctuary Foundation, this project brings together local and regional government agencies, researchers, non-government organizations, and other stakeholders, with meaningful engagement of disadvantaged communities and of Tribes to take real action where it matters most.
Santa Lucia Conservancy Progress Update
October 2025
During spring and summer, Climate Resilient Monterey Bay and Santa Lucia Conservancy made powerful progress:
800 acres grazed to reduce fire-prone grasses
143 acres of invasive and ladder fuels treated — exceeding our goal!
Burn plans underway with Tribal partners, Burn Boss, and Land Trust teams for future prescribed and cultural burns
Together, we're reducing wildfire risk and protecting communities, ecosystems, and public health across the Monterey Bay region.
