Key Functions of MBCAAN
Collaboration
Providing broad and inclusive participation of local and regional governments, researchers, non-government organizations, business groups, community groups, and other stakeholders around the Monterey Bay area, to ensure inclusive decision-making and the equitable development of climate resilience policies and adaptation actions.
Empowerment
Ensuring meaningful engagement of marginalized communities and Tribal groups through special programs created specifically for that purpose.
Planning & Implementation
MBCAAN members will work together to develop a clear vision for resilience, goals, and equitable climate adaptation and regeneration strategies. Work together to identify project needs, to develop projects, and pursue grant funds to implement those activities.
Training
A Workforce Development Committee will be convened and will meet at least quarterly to identify regional workforce needs and to develop programs to build the knowledge base and skillsets needed for addressing regional climate risks.
Oversight
An MBCAAN Advisory Committee will be convened to prioritize projects and provide recommendations for loan funds via the Monterey Bay Climate Adaptation Revolving Fund.
Monitoring
Supporting regional monitoring by creating a regional hub to monitor and track the effectiveness of adaptation actions. one word summary
Assessment
Overseeing performance evaluation to gauge the extent to which both MBCAAN and the overall program meet project goals.
